Q: What happens when the last card is pulled from the deck?
A: Do not reshuffle the deck. Play the cards that are in everyone’s hand until they have all been played or discarded.
Q: What happens when you run out of cards?
A: When all cards have been played or discarded, the game is over. Count up your Pork and the player with the highest $ amount wins.
Q: What happens if I have Bernie Made-off in my hand at the end of the game? Can I discard him?
A: Bernie cannot be discarded under normal circumstances. If you have the Bernie Made- off card in your hand when all other cards have been played or discarded, then you lose. Place all of the Pork Bills that you have passed and place them in the discard pile. Your score for the game is 0.
Q: What do we do with Bernie Made-off?
A: Simple, get rid of him. We recommend your best poker face, and when you are asked for a Pork Bill card, you may hand Bernie to them instead. Until the end of the game, treat Bernie Made-off like a Pork Bill card that you may give them regardless of what sector or industry they ask for.
Q: Where is the discard pile?
A: It will be where ever you decide to place it. We recommend that you place any discards, face up, next to the Pork Barrel (I. E. the face down deck of cards that you draw from.)
Q: What do I do when I am instructed to discard?
A: Politic cards generally are use and discard. That means play the card, then place it in the discard pile. If you don’t already have a discard pile, start one.
Q: If I have a matching set of Pork cards in my hand, can I play them at the beginning of your turn?
A: You can, but then your turn is over. You are allowed to ask for Pork cards, even if you start the turn with a match. Use this opportunity to get more Pork Bills. That increases your chances for a big payout. |
Q: What happens when someone asks for a Pork card and the other player doesn’t have one of that type?
A: They get told to “Eat Pork” and then draw a card from the Pork Barrel.
Q: If I draw a card from the Pork Barrel that matches one in my hand, can I play it?
A: Yes. After you ask for match, whether or not you get what you ask for, you may play any match that you have in your hand.
Q: If I have more than one matching set of Pork cards, can I play them?
A: No. A player can only play one Pork Bill during their turn. As soon as a match is played their turn is over.
Q: What happens if I ask for a Pork card and get it?
A: If you have a matching set play it. If not, you may ask again. As long as you keep getting assistance, (I.E. getting the card you ask for) you can continue to ask. That stops whenever you fail to get assistance or have a matching set of Pork cards in your hand.
Q: So if I asked ten times in a row for Pork cards and each time I received a card in the Sector I asked for, I would get ten cards?
A: Yes. Although, it is unlikely that you would go that long without finding a match or being told to Eat Pork.
Q: Is a matching set, two Pork cards in the same sector?
A: No. A matching set will be the exact same card. For instance, Consumer Stimulus is a Private sector card. The only card that makes a match is the other “Consumer Stimulus” card that is in the deck.
Q: Can you tell everyone that you gave another player the Bernie Made-off card?
A: Although not specifically against the rules, I wouldn’t advise it.
Q: At the end of the game, when I am counting up the value of the Pork Bills I have played, do I count each card separately, or each set?
A: Each set. For instance, if you have “Family Business” then it is worth $60 billion as a set and not $60 billion + $60 billion for the two cards. |
Q: Why would I want to ask for a specific Industry when requesting assistance rather than just naming a Sector? I have a much better chance of getting a card if I ask for any card in the Sector.
A: That is true most of the time. However, when asking for assistance in a Sector the player you ask can give you any card they have that matches your request. Sometimes, it is better to ask for a specific high value Industry card, especially if you know the player has it.
Q: I don’t understand the sequence of a turn. When do you ask for assistance and when do you draw from the Pork Barrel, and when do you play a match?
A: See if this flow chart helps:
1. Ask for assistance with a bill.(I.E. ask for a Pork card of a specific Sector or Industry.)
1A. If the player has a card matching your request – take it from him.
1B. If the player tells you to “Eat Pork” – draw from the Pork Barrel.
2. Check to see if you have a matching set of Pork cards.
2A. If you do, lay down the matched set, thereby passing the Pork Bill. Your turn is over. Let the next player know it is their turn now.
2B. If not, and you were told to “Eat Pork” – your turn is still over.
2C. If not, and you received assistance from a player, start again at step 1.
